DEI is a business imperative: Wells Fargo Exec. VP


Since companies like Molson Coors, Ford, Lowe’s and others have withdrawn participation in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (HRC’s CEI), employees, consumers, and LGBTQ+ folks alike are left wondering how diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts can fit into corporate America—if at all.

Wells Fargo (WFC) executive vice president and head of commercial banking for diverse segments Ruth Jacks thinks it’s quite simple, which she explained to Living Not So Fabulously hosts, David & John Auten-Schneider: “If we don’t learn how to work with people that don’t look like us…then we will lose business.”

Jacks also emphasized the bottom line for businesses, saying that, “at the end of the day, if you’re in business and you’re trying to generate revenue, then you’re going to do what it takes to generate revenue; and DEI is a big part of that because that’s the community.”
