iOS 18 Launches, Apple Intelligence Coming Soon

Apple has officially launched iOS 18, introducing a range of new features and interface changes to iPhones. However, the much-anticipated Apple Intelligence system is not included in this initial release and will arrive with future updates.

A New Look for iPhones

iOS 18 brings enhanced customization options to iPhones, giving users more flexibility in personalizing their home screens and widgets. App icons now support Dark Mode and color tinting, allowing for cohesive color schemes. The update also lets users hide or lock apps using Face ID for added security. Control Center received a redesign, enabling users to resize and move elements at will.

Photos and Messaging Get Major Updates

The Photos app now allows users to access collections like Recent Days, Trips, and Pinned Collections instantly. In the upcoming iOS 18.1 update, Apple Intelligence will enable features like memory movies from prompts and advanced editing tools. The Messages app also adds animated text effects and satellite messaging, allowing iPhone 14 and later models to send encrypted texts via satellite when cellular service is unavailable.

Notable Additions Across the Board

Safari’s new Highlights feature offers quick access to vital page information, while the revamped Passwords app simplifies how users manage credentials. Maps now provide topographic data for hiking trails, and the Game Mode reduces latency during gameplay, especially when using AirPods.

Apple Intelligence: The Missing Piece

Despite the excitement around iOS 18, Apple Intelligence—the star feature—remains in beta and will not be available until iOS 18.1. Only iPhone 15 Pro users and later models will be able to access these advanced AI-powered tools, including Siri improvements and writing assistance features.

iOS 18 promises a range of exciting updates for users, but those looking forward to Apple Intelligence will have to wait a bit longer. With the 18.1 update on the horizon, the wait won’t be long for Apple fans eager to explore this cutting-edge technology.
